Kranjcar Arrives at Fratton Park in the Nick of Time

Hours before today’s transfer deadline closed, Harry Redknapp had made his tenth and possibly most important signing of the summer by landing Croatian international midfielder Niko Kranjcar. Having rejected an offer earlier this week from French side Rennes, Niko heads for Fratton Park in a deal worth £3.5 million to his present team Hajduk Split. Niko, who has 24 caps for his country, came to prominence at the age of 16 scoring a goal on his debut for Dinamo Zagreb. A year later he became the club’s youngest ever captain. In 2005 he made his debut for the national side and has scored 3 international goals to date.
