Henning Berg appointed Legia Warsaw manager

World in Motion today completed negotiations that has seen Henning Berg’s return to management with Legia Warsaw.

Legia Warsaw are the biggest club in Poland with average home attendances of around 30,000. They regularly compete in Europe and Henning takes over with them sitting top of the Polish Ekstraklasa but having completed a very disappointing Europa League campaign. Good luck Henning!

Richie Barker appointed Portsmouth manager

World in Motion client Richie Barker has today been appointed as manager of Portsmouth Football Club.

38-year-old Barker, who began his managerial career at Bury in April 2011 and steered them to promotion from League Two, said: “I’m extremely proud and extremely grateful and flattered to have the opportunity. It’s a fantastic club, you only have to look around to see the history and potential.”

Cardiff City and Wales defender Declan John agrees new contract

Cardiff City defender and World in Motion client Declan John has signed a new long term contract at the Premier League club.

Teenage full back John – who made his Premier League bow in August before his full international debut for Wales two months later – has committed his future to the Bluebirds until 2018.

“We are delighted to have secured (Declan’s) talent on a long-term basis,” said Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay.

“He’s a fine young man, disciplined and professional, who will continue working hard as part of our Premier League squad.

“I’ve no doubt that Declan is going to have a big future with us and for his country,” Mackay added.

Papiss Cissé’s goal gives Senegal hope

Newcastle United striker Papiss Cissé’s 95th minute goal in Senegal’s crucial World Cup Qualifier 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast gave the Lions a slim chance in the return leg to be played on 16th November in Casablanca. Cissé’s goal was his 15th for Senegal from just 27 caps.

Efe Ambrose signs new four-year deal

Celtic defender and World in Motion client Efe Ambrose has committed his future to the Scottish Champions having agreed a new four-year contract. Nigeria international Ambrose, 24, joined the Bhoys from Israeli club Ashdod in 2012.

Long and Archer receive U-21 call-ups

World in Motion goalkeepers George Long (Sheffield United) and Jordan Archer (Tottenham) have received call-ups to the England U-21 and Scotland U-21 squads respectively. Long, 19, is one of three England goalkeepers included, whereas Archer looks set to earn his 11th Scotland U-21 cap.

Cummings and O’Connor earn international call-ups

Reading full-back Shaun Cummings has received his first international call-up having elected to represent Jamaica. He will take part in this week’s World Cup Qualifier against Panama. Meanwhile, Michael O’Connor has been included in the Northern Ireland squad that faces Luxembourg and Portugal.

Declan John receives first Wales call-up

Cardiff City full back Declan John has been called up to the Wales international squad for this month’s World Cup Qualifiers against Macedonia and Serbia. John, 18, has adapted quickly life in the Premier League with Cardiff City and will link up with Chris Coleman’s men later this week.

Swiss U21 international Moubandje moves to Toulouse

Swiss U21 international left back François Moubandje has signed for Ligue 1 side Toulouse following four years with Servette. The 23-year-old is expected to fill the void created by the departure of Cheikh M’Bengue to Stade Rennais.

Portugal international Hélder Barbosa moves to Almería

Portuguese international winger and World in Motion client Hélder Barbosa has joined newly promoted La Liga side Almería. Barbosa, 26, links up with the Spanish outfit following three successful seasons with Sporting Braga.
