Blades snap up World in Motion duo

Sheffield United have signed World in Motion clients Matt Hill and Shaun Miller on two-year deals. Former Wolverhampton Wanderers left back Hill, 31, joins from Blackpool whereas Miller, 24, has spent the past six seasons with Crewe Alexandra.

World in Motion trio earn professional deals

Congratulations to World in Motion clients Calum Barrett, Lewis Carey and Niall Thompson on signing their first professional contracts with Aston Villa, Bristol City and Torquay United respectively. Barrett and Carey are both promising young goalkeepers, while Thompson is a speedy right winger who will be immediately involved with Torquay’s first team squad.

Smithies stars in Huddersfield Town’s dramatic Play-Off Final victory

England U21 goalkeeper and World in Motion client Alex Smithies was today’s man of the moment in Huddersfield Town’s dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Sheffield United. Smithies saved two penalties and scored the crucial spot kick which clinched Huddersfield’s promotion to The Championship. Congratulations, Alex.

Péter Szakály captains Debrecen to league title glory

Congratulations to World in Motion client Péter Szakály on winning the Hungarian Premier League with Debreceni VSC. Péter, 26, was also voted as Hungary’s Player of the Year and has won 3 national team caps in 2012.

Barbosa’s Braga go top after extending incredible run

Sporting Braga moved to the top of the Portuguese Premier League last night following a 2-1 victory over Académica – their 13th straight win. World in Motion client and Braga winger Hélder Barbosa, 24, has played a key role in their recent run of form with 11 goals this season. Barbosa and Braga will face title contenders Benfica and FC Porto in their next two league games.

Tyrone Barnett moves to Championship Peterborough

Tyrone Barnett has secured a £1million transfer to Peterborough United. The striker, who has scored 15 goals so far this season for Crawley Town, joins initially on a loan until the end of the season when the deal will become permanent. Tyrone becomes Peterborough’s record signing whilst also far outstripping the record fee received by a League two club. We wish Tyrone every success.

Long term deal for Blades keeper

Sheffield United and England U19 starlet George Long has signed a new four-year deal keeping him at Bramall Lane until June 2016. 18-year-old Long, who has made four appearances for the Blades this season, has been the subject of interest from Premier League clubs, but manager Danny Wilson was delighted with the youngster’s decision to stick with his hometown club. “I didn’t see Joe Hart but I heard how good he was at that age,” said Wilson, “I think George also has the potential to have a very strong career and follow that line … I certainly think he will be a Premiership goalkeeper.”
