Tom Heaton and Cardiff City have secured their place in the Carling Cup final at Wembley following a dramatic penalty shoot out, after the tie with Crystal Palace finished deadlocked. World in Motion client Tom Heaton was instrumental in the success saving two penalties in the shoot out. Tom will now take his place in the final on 26 February 2012 against Liverpool.

With the UK transfer window closing last night, Papiss Demba Cisse’s £10million transfer to Newcastle United remains the most expensive transfer completed in this year’s January window. Cisse, who joined the Magpies from Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg, moved for a fee which eclipses the likes of Gary Cahill’s transfer to Chelsea FC and Nikica Jelavic’s move to Everton FC. Cardiff City have completed the signing of England U20 goalkeeper Elliot Parish from Aston Villa. Parish, 21, had been on loan with the Bluebirds and the move has since been made permanent.
Albert Bruce, regarded as one of Ghana’s most promising young midfielders today sealed his switch from Asante Kotoko to Legia Warsaw. Bruce is a tough, technically gifted defensive midfielder who has only just turned 18, but already has numerous U20 national team caps.
