World in Motion client Alex Smithies has signed a two-year contract extension with Huddersfield Town, extending his stay with the Championship club to 2015. 22-year-old Smithies – instrumental in the club’s Play-Off Final victory at Wembley in May – has made over 120 league appearances for the club since making his debut as a 17-year-old.
Hungary midfielder Péter Czvitkovics has signed a three-year deal with Hungarian champions Debreceni VSC having moved from Belgian Cup semi-finalists KV Kortrijk.
Peter Utaka’s brace in Dalian Aerbin’s 2-1 victory over Changchun Yatai last night improved his goal scoring record to a remarkable 12 goals in 10 consecutive games. The 28-year-old Nigerian international has now scored a total of 17 goals in his debut season in the Chinese Super League, in just 19 starts.
Former Middlesbrough winger and Estonia international has signed for Italian Serie B side Varese on a one-year deal. Tarmo, 26, has 64 Estonia caps.
World in Motion acted on behalf of Rangers FC in their acquisition of Spanish striker Francisco Sandaza on a free transfer. Sandaza, 27, scored 18 goals for St Johnstone in 2011/12 and joins on a three-year contract. Sandaza will spearhead the Rangers attack as they set about their return to the Scottish Premier League. “It’s a long project and we start from zero, but I’ll go for it and I think we will come back soon and I will do my best to be a part of that,” added the striker.
Tom Heaton has today signed a one-year deal with Bristol City with an option for a second year. The former Manchester United and England U21 stopper – instrumental in Cardiff City’s 2011/12 League Cup final run – will replace England goalkeeper David James. In other goalkeeping news, World in Motion client and Derby County GK Ross Atkins has joined Burton Albion on loan until January.
Sochaux have agreed to sign World in Motion client and Benfica winger Ishmael Yartey on a four-year deal. Yartey joins after a successful loan spell with Swiss club Servette, where he scored 8 goals in 31 games
World in Motion is delighted to have brokered deals for former Nice defender Kévin Malaga and Panetolikos defender William Edjenguelé that will see the pair spend the next three seasons with Coventry City. Malaga, 25, has Ligue 1 experience in France whereas Edjenguelé, 25, has spent his career in Switzerland and Greece.
World in Motion client Colin Doyle has agreed a one-year contract extension at Birmingham City and will battle it out for the number 1 jersey with England’s rising star Jack Butland. Fellow World in Motion goalkeeper Conrad Logan has also signed a new contract – with Leicester City – extending his stay with the club into an eighth season.
English goalkeeper Matt Jones will continue his Portuguese adventure having agreed a two-year contract with Lisbon based side Os Belenenses. Jones, 26, has previously played for Santa Clara and União de Madeira, but will now link up with four-time Portuguese Premier League winners Belenenses.
