Price pens Palace extension

World in Motion client Lewis Price has signed a one-year contract extension with Crystal Palace, prolonging his stay at Selhurst Park till 2013. Wales international Price, who has played a prominent part in the Eagles’ Carling Cup run to the semi-finals this season, will compete with Julián Speroni for a first team spot.

 

Gower signs new Swansea deal

World in Motion represented Swansea City FC in negotiations with midfielder Mark Gower, who has penned a new 18-month deal with the Premier League high-fliers. Gower, 33, has enjoyed an excellent start to this year’s campaign, with OPTA statistics this week announcing Mark as Europe’s most creative player, ahead of the likes of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Briggs makes England U21 debut

World in Motion would like to congratulate Fulham wing back Matthew Briggs on his full debut for the England U21. Briggs, 20, starred in England’s 6-0 win over Azerbaijan at Vicarage Road, and has now represented England at every level from U16 through to U21.

Arsenal move for Mertesacker

World in Motion are delighted to announce that Arsenal have completed the signing of Germany defender Per Mertesacker from Werder Bremen. The 26-year-old, who already has 75 international caps, called the move to London “a wish come true”. Mertesacker has signed a long-term deal at the Emirates, and manager Arsene Wenger told the Arsenal club website: “He is a German international with vast experience and strength and is good on the floor and in the air. I believe he will be well-suited to the Premier League and a tremendous asset to the team.”

Cummings inks new Reading deal

Pacy full back Shaun Cummings has signed a one-year extension to his contract with the Royals, keeping him at the Madejski Stadium until June 2013. Reading boss Brian McDermott labelled the new deal “a reward for (Shaun’s) mentality… he’s done very, very well, he will keep working hard and I’m sure he will be a big player for us.”

Hammers bag Baldock

Highly-rated striker and World in Motion client Sam Baldock has joined West Ham from MK Dons for a fee of £2million. The 22-year-old, who had already scored 6 goals in 6 appearances this season, has agreed a four-year deal. He will wear the number seven shirt.

Spurs ‘keeper earns Scotland call

Congratulations to Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Jordan Archer on his call-up to the Scotland U21 squad for this month’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier with Bulgaria. Jordan, 19, has four Scotland U19 caps.

Warner heads down under

A-League side Wellington Phoenix have signed former Liverpool and Fulham goalkeeper Tony Warner on a free transfer. Warner, who will be joined by his young family in New Zealand, said of the move: “I’ve been all around the English leagues, up and down, left and right, and it’s nice to come out here and experience something different.”

Scott Wagstaff signs one-year contract extension

Charlton Athletic winger Scott Wagstaff has been rewarded for his good early season form by being handed a new contract to tie him to The Valley until 2013. Wagstaff, 21, has scored in both of Charlton’s two league games so far this season, having scored 10 league goals from midfield in 2010/11.

Croatian winger Pusic signs for Tigers

Croatian winger Martin Pusic has signed a one-year deal with Hull City following a successful trial with the club. Pusic, 23, initially impressed Hull City’s watching scouts in a pre-season friendly as part of a team of free agents organised by World in Motion last month.
